world war two
Today in class we talked about jews in world war one and two and we listened to an audio and took notes, but the only thing is, is that i didn't totally understand what they were talking about. the class also seemed a little boring today since we didn't do much other than listen and take notes. in the audio, i did hear about how jews were put in concentration camps and that some got away and when they made it to america, where they couldn't dock at their location so they tried to find somewhere else but got turned around and ended up back in Europe and eventually caught.

migration
Today in Human Geo. we learned about more migration. We talked about mobility and how anything you do is mobility. When you go to school, shopping, the grocery store, the bank, work, and anywhere else you go. There are two types of migration. The first is part is immigration. Immigration is the leaving of a certain place. This can be voluntary or this can be forced. The next part is emigration. Emigration is moving into a country. This can also be forced or voluntary. We also learned that three percent of the population has migrated at one point. Net migration is the difference between immigration and emigration. Ravenstiens's law for the distance that migrants typically move a short distance away while immigrants move out of one country into another. There are two categories of migration. The first is international which is a permanent move to another country. This can be forced by war or lack of jobs. This can also be voluntary due to a job or a college. The second type is internal this is a permanent move to another part in the same country.

mobility
Today in class we talked about mobility and other forms of moving. Mobility refers to all types of movements. Short term and repetitive acts of mobility are referred to as circulation. There are two main types of movement. The first one is migration which is a permeant move to another country. The second one is emigration, which is when you leave a country. It does not count if you just leave a state, it has to be a country. Ravenstines law is how far migrants typically move. There are two types of migration, international migration and internal migration. Internal migration is the movement in the same country. The second one is international migration which is to move from one country to another. Approximately 9% of the world's population are international migrants. The main country for net out migration are Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The major areas for net in migration are North America, Europe, and Oceania.

test review
Today we went over our last test on population and immigration. We did the same that always do, which is everyone reads a question and gives the answer to one or more questions so we can discuss the answer. I got a 86 on the test. The other ones were not as good as this one. I got the entire first page right and that makes sense because I found it very easy and wasn't surprised that I got them all right. I am actually a little mad about the two questions that I got wrong because they were very easy questions that I should have gotten right. For the life expectancy one I put the US instead of Monaco, which doesn't make any sense because I remember learning that Monaco has a lot of old people. The other question I got wrong was the one about what pyramid represents a country's population doubling in 35 years. I put pyramid C and it was pyramid A. When I saw the right answers it was really frustrating because I know exactly why I got these questions wrong. It wasn't because I'm not smart or I didn't know the answer, its because I didn't take my time and think about what the question is asking. My brain also sort of forgets really easy things that pop up on tests, which is annoying because I know the answer but I either can't think of it or forget that the question is pretty much answering itself. I have established that I'm not a very good test taker and that sucks because I am smart and I know everything, it just doesn't show on tests.

population
Today in Human Geo we talked about population. We looked at a lot maps. Some maps had squares. Each square was people per square kilometer or mile. Some of the darker squares are where it was more densely populated while lighter places were where it was less densely populated. Some maps even didn't have any blocks anywhere because no one livid there. Other maps had more detail while using color. They did this by using different colors which were darker and lighter than each other. These maps had more detail because they were not restricted to a box or a square. We also learned how people settle in clusters. By clusters they are cities or groups that live together. We talked about how humans avoid clustering in places like dry lands, wet lands, cold lands, and high lands. People cluster in low lying areas, fertile soil, temperate climate, near an ocean, or near a river with easy ocean access.

test review
Today in class we talked about the format on the test. First, we did some example questions from our test. We had to find many things from the world fact book. Some examples are death rate and infant mortality rate. After finding some information on the fact book we went over some of the topics that will be on the test. One of the topics was net migration. Net migration is the difference between the number of immigrants and the number of emigrants throughout the year. Another topic is the total fertility rate. The total fertility rate is the average number of children that would be born to a woman over her lifetime. We also discussed the rate of natural increase. The rate of natural increase is the difference between the number of live births and the number of deaths occurring in a year, divided by the mid-year population of that year, multiplied by a factor. We also discussed push and pull factors. I definitely need to study but I fell that I will do okay on the test.

maps
Today in class we mainly looked at the differnt kinds of maps and the places they go with. We looked at a bunch of Maps and each one had a different reason for the shape they had. One of them had a great amount of old people and a little amount of children. The reason being that this was a place in Florida that was a good retirement place for the elderly to go to. There are little to no young people because of the scarce amount of jobs and things for them to do. Another one had an insane amount of young adults in their 20s because was a state with a great amount of colleges. The rest of them were just teachers and the small amount of people who actually live there. The next one was a military state with a large military camp. This meant that there was not a large amount of elderly people living there. But there were a few kids because their parents live there are are having kids and raising them.
